Please Remove Your Wallet from Devvy's Vagina

This is Devvy. She is surprisingly calm for having everyone's wallet in her vagina.

"In lobbying for defeat of a congressional plan that would cut off taxpayer support for the abortion business' leading player, Richards claimed: "If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are going to lose their health-care access not to abortion services to basic family planning, you know, mammograms." But Live Action workers who called 30 Planned Parenthood business locations across the nation said "every single one admitted they could not do mammograms."
I will never have a mammogram, but having one is a personal decision and expense. The Outlaw Congress has NO authority to steal the fruits of your labor to fund abortions or mammograms.

Devvy apparently wants to find out about her breast cancer when it's difficult to impossible to treat, because that's how she rolls. The rest of us, however, are not looking forward to radical mascetomies, radiation and chemotherapy.

Here's the thing Devvy, and I'm sure it's hard to listen to facts and logic with even one wallet in your vagina, let alone 300,000,000 wallets in your vagina, it is far cheaper to pay for cancer treatment in the earliest stages than in the later stages. And here's another thing: unless you want to cut off all health care access to the poor, which you probably do, eventually that person is going to end up in the ER and then they will run up an enormous bill everyone gets to pay for.

Would you, Devvy, find it to be a better idea to change your brakes when they start squeaking, or after you cause a ten car pileup on the highway? One costs, what, $250 max, the other hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions if you end up killing someone. Now, changing the brakes when they squeak is like giving out free pap smears. The ten car pileup is not giving out free pap smears and instead treating women with end stage cervical cancer in the ER.

Ignoring, of course, that "poor women should die preventable deaths so that my taxes can be 0.8% lower" is sociopathic and appalling on every level.

Having a test for cervical cancer is a personal expense.

One I certainly can't afford, but I don't think Devvy cares. As far as she is concerned, another person's cervical cancer should impact her exactly as much as another person's hair style and she cares just as much. Probably less, actually, as she doesn't have to look at anyone else's cervix.

That's not a political position, that sociopathy. I'd mention that, again, it's not good economic policy, either, but I really think that the police should be checking her yard for human remains every so often.

"How many times have we heard female politicians bleat about "women's issues" during elections? How many times have we heard the old chant about "empowering women" from female members of Congress? The feminization of Congress and our state legislatures is destroying constitutional government, running America into oceans of unpayable debt and breeding generations of helpless women, whining for mother government to take care of them and their every need.

Cancer is not a woman's iss-

Fuck it.

There are 10,000,000 more unemployed people than there are jobs. And they want to cut off unemployment benefits and lower taxes even further on the wealthy. 1 in 7 Americans experience food insecurity and food prices continue to rise, so let's cut food stamps. More than 40,000,000 Americans have no health insurance and a person without healthcare is 50% more likely to die of cancer than a person with health insurance, but health insurance is a privilege to be enjoyed by the few. Our bridges are crumbling and occasionally collapsing, but investing in infrastructure is wasting money that could be given back to the rich in the form of more tax cuts. GE paid no taxes last year. The banks crushed our economy by securitizing mortgages, but let's deregulate the market and bail them out with taxpayer money.

Do you see the disconnect here? What we are doing is not working. It is not working. What language do I have to say that in before people understand?

The GOP is, at this point, like a person pouring gasoline on a fire to put it out and, as the fire climbs higher and higher, insisting that if they just put enough gasoline on the fire, eventually it will work. Oh, and it's the country that is on fire.

Just for fun, here's the wallet-vagina line:

Get my wallet out of your vagina because you have no constitutional right to steal the fruits of my husband's fixed retirement to pay for your abortion.

She's bitching that her husband's social security is being used to pay for abortions through Planned Parenthood. Now that is some performance art quality irony right there.

By Definition

What the fuck is wrong with aol.com? First we have adults ripping on a 3-year-old's style, now we have a discussion of how laetrile cured a man of cancer.

Australian Paul Reid, who was diagnosed with a rare and deadly form of the cancer lymphoma, says that apricot kernels, or seeds, helped to cure
him of his disease, the North Queensland Register reports.
Reid claims that the
seeds have cancer-fighting properties, and that eating them along with a
vegetarian diet, have allowed him to live for the past 13 years even though
doctors told him he only had five years to live.
Apricot kernels are high in
amygdalin (which some refer to as vitamin B17) – a nutrient that some believe
attacks cancer cells.

They don't use the word, but this is laetrile, which has a long and ignominious history in the treatment of cancer. The reason this article doesn't use the word laetrile is simple: laetrile is banned as a treatment for cancer in the US, and has been for quite some time. It is illegal to transport laetrile across state lines for the purposes of treating cancer. This is not mentioned once in the article.

Laetrile was banned for good reason: it doesn't work.

While the McNaughton Foundation was attempting to have Laetrile recognized
as a drug, Krebs, Jr., began claiming that it was a vitamin, which he called
B17. (It only took him about 20 years to come to this conclusion.) Krebs
apparently hoped that as a "vitamin" Laetrile would not be subject to the
"safety and efficacy" requirements for new drugs. He may have also hoped to
capitalize on the popularity of vitamins.

By 1974, Dr. Contreras stated that he was seeing 100-120 new patients
per month, with many more patients returning to obtain additional Laetrile.
Patients typically were charged $150 for a month's supply. Contreras
acknowledged that few of his cancer patients were "controlled" with Laetrile.
While admitting that 40% of the patients displayed no response, he claimed that
30% showed "most definite responses" to the drug. However, these statistics may
not be reliable. In 1979, he claimed to have treated 26,000 cancer cases in 16
years. Yet when asked by the FDA to provide his most dramatic examples of
success, Contreras submitted only 12 case histories. Six of the patients had
died of cancer, one had used conventional cancer therapy, one had died of
another disease after the cancer had been removed surgically, one still had
cancer, and the other three could not be located.

So, we have no mention of the fact that the treatment in question doesn't work and has been banned in the United States for decades, just one man's story with no evidence to back up his claims.

Reid, however, believes he has chosen a healthy alternative to standard
cancer treatments and says there's no harm in trying an organic diet.

"I don't think my journey has been unscientific, it's just that there's
been no science in a big way applied to it,'' he said.

Yes, Mr. Reid, by definition if something has not been investigated scientifically, it is unscientific. By fucking definition.

Prayer Cannot Cure Cancer- Even When Combined with Herbs

funnier than the real thing
tbn, daniel, cancer, pentecostal, religion, christianity

A Pentecostal minister/doctor has been arrested for killing people by promising that her herbal concoction, combined with prayer, could cure everything from MS to cancer.

Prosecutors said Daniel concocted a remedy known, among other names, as "C-Extract" that she claimed would help treat cancer and other afflictions such as multiple sclerosis, hepatitis, and Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

Some of her patients were drawn to her from her appearance on TBN's "Praise the Lord." Daniel told viewers she collected herbs from around the world, and, when they were combined with prayer, there was a good chance their cancer could be cured.

"We have seen the dead raised," Daniel said on the broadcast, according to the indictment.

Now, when will we see TBN charged? They put this woman on the air, in front of millions, to preach that herbs and prayer would cure cancer. Desperate people will do anything, including risking their lives on the belief that somebody had managed to raise the dead with herbs. That is shameful. It's shameful that Daniel took advantage of desperate people that way, and equally shameful that TBN gave her a forum to do so.

Bottle Caps for Chemo

health care, reform, cancer, children
(Subtitle: Why We Need Some Kind of Health Care Reform)

A friend of mine called me last night asking me to save the caps from 2 litre and 20oz bottles. She is a nurse at a local hospital and they are conducting a bottle cap drive. For every 1,000 bottle caps they collect, a child gets a free chemo treatment.

Immediately, my thought was that you could get me to do almost anything by invoking children with cancer, and collecting bottle caps is easy, so no big deal.

Then I realized that the whole thing made me angry. Why is it that in the United States of America, bottle caps need to be collected to make sure a child gets life saving medical treatment? Is that not the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?

My coworkers made my anger even worse. They agreed to give me bottle caps to give to my friend, but not without saying things like, "Why do we need to do this? If you get cancer, you automatically get health insurance. I don't even think this is real."

Sorry, it's real. No, you don't automatically get coverage just because you got cancer. Not even if you're a child. A look at some statistics, if you don't believe me.

A recent study by Harvard University researchers found that the average out-of-pocket medical debt for those who filed for bankruptcy was $12,000. The study noted that 68 percent of those who filed for bankruptcy had health insurance. In addition, the study found that 50 percent of all bankruptcy filings were partly the result of medical expenses. Every 30 seconds in the United States someone files for bankruptcy in the aftermath of a serious health problem.

A new survey shows that more than 25 percent said that housing problems resulted from medical debt, including the inability to make rent or mortgage payments and the development of bad credit ratings.

About 1.5 million families lose their homes to foreclosure every year due to unaffordable medical costs.

A survey of Iowa consumers found that in order to cope with rising health insurance costs, 86 percent said they had cut back on how much they could save, and 44 percent said that they have cut back on food and heating expenses.

Just to make matters worse, even debating health care reform has become dangerous in this country:

Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) will not be hosting any town hall events this August -- instead, he's making himself available to constituents for one-on-one meetings about health care reform -- and at least part of the reason is this: His offices have received threatening phone calls, including at least one direct threat against his life.

Cancer Patient Fired for Atheism

christian, atheism, atheist, amanda donaldson, cancer, breast, persecution,
As if stage III breast cancer weren't enough, Amanda Donaldson was fired from her job for being an atheist.

Meet Amanda Donaldson, a Stage III Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer Patient. In a recent blog entry her husband claims she was fired from her job by her employer Dr. Dawson at ‘El Dorado Chiropractic’ because of her illness and for her lack of religious beliefs.

May 4th was Amanda’s first day back to work since April 14th because of her mastectomy, the surgical removal of the entire affected breast. Mr. Donaldson claims that “a few hours into her shift he(Dr. Dawson) again brings up that she needs Jesus in her life and she respectfully declined.”

In a reply email to AtheosToday, Mr. Donaldson stated that his wife was then terminated. “She was told to leave. She was told ‘Her attitude towards God was no longer welcome in his business’.”

Please show your support for Amanda. (If you can show financial support, that would be great. She and her husband have 3 children, and even with Emergency Medicaid, cancer ain't cheap.)

And the next time some christian asshat whinges about being persecuted, you tell them all about Amanda, and ask them the last time a christian fighting cancer was fired for Jesus.

Cancer Is God's Smackdown

cancer, ray, comfort, religion, christian, religion, christianity, evangelism, wotm, living waters

Ray Comfort, evangelist extraordinaire, believes that cancer is god's punishment and that people with cancer should never, ever so much as see a doctor, let alone get treatment. Even taking medicine for the pain is an insult to god.

I am not making this up.

Ray wrote a book, More Than Just Comfort- An Answer to Cancer, still available for $25.00 Canadian, in which he states

“Therefore you should never take medicine to relieve pain. You should never consult a doctor or go to a hospital for treatment, because you would be interfering with the work of God in your life. If Cancer is the chastening tool of God, then doctors who are fighting cancer are fighting against the work of God. If a preacher or a Christian believes the sickness is a means of chastening, then he should never pray for relief from the sickness, but rather pray that the cancer will continue to grow until the chastening is completed”.

Yeah, you read that right. Even praying to god for relief is forbidden.

What do you suppose happened to people who took this advice? I think you know. Anyone who took that advice died a horrible, painful, preventable death.

The reason I held back on this post was because the book was published in the late 70s. It was entirely possible that Ray had changed his stance on treating cancer, especially in light of the many advances that have been made in the field of cancer treatment. Then I discovered that the book was still for sale, though not in the US.

Yet I still didn't know if Ray actually believed, 30 years later, that cancer is god's punishment and one shouldn't seek treatment. The answer to that question would be yes.

In the comments to Ray's post, Angry About Nothing, Punjab calls Ray on this:

Ray... I don't know what Iago is referring to, but here's a quote from your "book" More Than Just Comfort... An Answer to Cancer

I don't know if you'll post this, as it makes you look more ridiculous than usual, but I was wondering why you would go against your own beliefs and see a doctor.

Ray actually responds to this with:

Iago ..."if a preacher or a Christian sees sickness as a mewans of chastening..."It seems that you don't know what "chastening" means. It means punishment by God. Best wishes.

You'll notice, Ray doesn't deny believing that cancer is god's punishment, nor does he deny believing that people suffering from cancer should not seek treatment. He doesn't repudiate the stance taken in the book he is still selling.

Ray Comfort thinks that if you have cancer, you should die a horrible death, a preventable death.

Ray Comfort is a very bad man.

Sexism- Alive and Well in Medicine

patriarcy, feminism, feminist, gardisil, cervical, cancer, promiscuity, slut, asshat
You know what Gardisil is, right? That vaccine you give to girls so they don't get HPV, which in turn prevents them from getting cervical cancer later (by later, I mean their 20s) in life?

You remember how every religious crazy in this country suddenly decided that vaccinating girls against HPV would cause them to FUCK EVERY MAN THEY MEET? Because the only thing stopping teenage girls from having nonstop, raucus, perverted group sex was the threat of possibly getting cervical cancer 10 years down the line.

Well, now giving Gardisil to boys is being considered, and nobody's even mentioned that it might make them slutty. All of the sudden, we care about cost effectiveness and safety.

Hey, patriarchy? Yeah. FUCK YOU!
