Please Remove Your Wallet from Devvy's Vagina

This is Devvy. She is surprisingly calm for having everyone's wallet in her vagina.

"In lobbying for defeat of a congressional plan that would cut off taxpayer support for the abortion business' leading player, Richards claimed: "If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are going to lose their health-care access not to abortion services to basic family planning, you know, mammograms." But Live Action workers who called 30 Planned Parenthood business locations across the nation said "every single one admitted they could not do mammograms."
I will never have a mammogram, but having one is a personal decision and expense. The Outlaw Congress has NO authority to steal the fruits of your labor to fund abortions or mammograms.

Devvy apparently wants to find out about her breast cancer when it's difficult to impossible to treat, because that's how she rolls. The rest of us, however, are not looking forward to radical mascetomies, radiation and chemotherapy.

Here's the thing Devvy, and I'm sure it's hard to listen to facts and logic with even one wallet in your vagina, let alone 300,000,000 wallets in your vagina, it is far cheaper to pay for cancer treatment in the earliest stages than in the later stages. And here's another thing: unless you want to cut off all health care access to the poor, which you probably do, eventually that person is going to end up in the ER and then they will run up an enormous bill everyone gets to pay for.

Would you, Devvy, find it to be a better idea to change your brakes when they start squeaking, or after you cause a ten car pileup on the highway? One costs, what, $250 max, the other hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions if you end up killing someone. Now, changing the brakes when they squeak is like giving out free pap smears. The ten car pileup is not giving out free pap smears and instead treating women with end stage cervical cancer in the ER.

Ignoring, of course, that "poor women should die preventable deaths so that my taxes can be 0.8% lower" is sociopathic and appalling on every level.

Having a test for cervical cancer is a personal expense.

One I certainly can't afford, but I don't think Devvy cares. As far as she is concerned, another person's cervical cancer should impact her exactly as much as another person's hair style and she cares just as much. Probably less, actually, as she doesn't have to look at anyone else's cervix.

That's not a political position, that sociopathy. I'd mention that, again, it's not good economic policy, either, but I really think that the police should be checking her yard for human remains every so often.

"How many times have we heard female politicians bleat about "women's issues" during elections? How many times have we heard the old chant about "empowering women" from female members of Congress? The feminization of Congress and our state legislatures is destroying constitutional government, running America into oceans of unpayable debt and breeding generations of helpless women, whining for mother government to take care of them and their every need.

Cancer is not a woman's iss-

Fuck it.

There are 10,000,000 more unemployed people than there are jobs. And they want to cut off unemployment benefits and lower taxes even further on the wealthy. 1 in 7 Americans experience food insecurity and food prices continue to rise, so let's cut food stamps. More than 40,000,000 Americans have no health insurance and a person without healthcare is 50% more likely to die of cancer than a person with health insurance, but health insurance is a privilege to be enjoyed by the few. Our bridges are crumbling and occasionally collapsing, but investing in infrastructure is wasting money that could be given back to the rich in the form of more tax cuts. GE paid no taxes last year. The banks crushed our economy by securitizing mortgages, but let's deregulate the market and bail them out with taxpayer money.

Do you see the disconnect here? What we are doing is not working. It is not working. What language do I have to say that in before people understand?

The GOP is, at this point, like a person pouring gasoline on a fire to put it out and, as the fire climbs higher and higher, insisting that if they just put enough gasoline on the fire, eventually it will work. Oh, and it's the country that is on fire.

Just for fun, here's the wallet-vagina line:

Get my wallet out of your vagina because you have no constitutional right to steal the fruits of my husband's fixed retirement to pay for your abortion.

She's bitching that her husband's social security is being used to pay for abortions through Planned Parenthood. Now that is some performance art quality irony right there.

Oh, NeoNazis, You're So GOP circa 2009

There's two types of White Supremacists in the US, the terrifying young men with shaved heads and red suspenders that you should run screaming from no matter what race you are, and then there are the dilettantes. Bored, white, middle aged, middle class, they like to study preCivil War and Civil War era history, maybe cosplay* a little, and write newsletters and blogs. Blogs about the action they will take. Oh, the action they will take!

hee-hee!

Take for example the Jacksonian Club (yes, that Jackson), which I found through a Christian blog, but that's another post for another day. Note how their proudly anonymous White Supremacist plans are exactly what prominent GOPpers were suggesting as serious policy in 2009.

Unlike the usual right-wing commentator, I am not here just to deliver you the news and my views. On the contrary, this blog is nothing less than a call to action. It is my intention to gather together as many good men as I can find with the immediate goal of forming Jacksonian Clubs in as many of our towns and cities as possible. Like the leftist Jacobin Clubs of old, the purpose of the Jacksonian Clubs will be to bring us together in a spirit of fraternity, to provide an alternative space for us to speak, think, plan and act.

And act we shall.

We shall fraternalize and plan and think and speak. About actions. We shall take them.

But what actions shall you take, Albert Jacksonian?

This guy over here may think that this can be remedied by a Second Continental Congress and a new Constitution, while this other guy might think the answer lies in new form of national socialism, while the guy in the corner may be for the formation of a smaller White entho-state in the current territory of the U.S.

Call a Continental Congress? Really? Oooh, secession. Wow, current White Supremacist rhetoric is so 2009 GOP.

These arguments and ideas are important, but we cannot begin to argue over the best way to achieve our objectives until we have at first organized on the first principle, the first necessary step: that the current Government has become our enemy, that it is actively seeking to overturn the basics of our civilization, that it has us slated for replacement as the majority population of this land and that none of this will be cured by ordinary politics.

Well, that's preObama rhetoric, circa 2008. It's like he's invented a Time Machine of Hatred!

You’d be surprised how many of us are out there.

Dude, "we surround you" has already been done.

You know, there was a time when all of the above would have shocked- Shocked!- me, now it's just "been there, heard that, don't you have something new for me?" How did we get to the point where white supremacists pandering to other white supremacists is not just old hat, but old major political party, all over the news, done to death boring?

*They call it "reenactments". I call it cosplay.

**Huh. That actually works for North America and India.

The GOP Hates Homeless Veterans

And the GOP doesn't give a fuck about even one of them.

In an effort to punish Democrats for passing health care reform, GOP Senators are refusing to work- and keeping everyone else in the Senate from working, too. That includes Senators that are trying to help homeless veterans.

Without unanimous consent, committees are allowed to meet for two hours
following the opening of the Senate session -- which on Wednesday was 9:00 a.m.
The committees need consent to continue and consent again to continue after 2:00
p.m. Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii), Chairman of the Veterans' Affairs Committee,
had his hearing shut down abruptly at 11:00 Wednesday morning, in the middle of
a discussion on the effort to end veteran homelessness in the next five years.
It is estimated that more than 100,000 veterans are homeless in the United
States on any given night.

That's right, to Republicans, a hissy fit is more important than helping homeless vets. These people people aren't the Party of No, they're the party of Fuck You, That's Why.

Shameful.

For more information on how you can help homeless veterans, visit the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.

When You Have a Wolf by the Ears

When you have a wolf by the ears, it's as hard to let go as it is to hold on.

I can't think of a more apropos description of the relationship between the tea partiers and the GOP, as demonstrated in this list of demands:

The time has come to stand a fight to win.We must fight to win.And take no
prisoners. No bipartisanship. No reaching across the aisle. It is time to be a Rock
Solid Conservative.

Monday's passing of health care reform is a good example of why you don't really want that. No Republicans voted for that bill, and it passed anyway. Also, "stand a fight to win" . . . wtf?

You must support the Constitution. You must support the Second Amendment.

I'm beginning to think you should have to pass a basic test in civics before you can vote. The Amendments to the Constitution are a part of the Constitution. Supporting the Constitution means supporting the Amendments to the Constitution- all of them.

You must support our military. You must support tax cuts. You must support cutting
and limiting government.

Well, I suppose if you support tax cuts, you must necessarily support governmental cuts, but notice what he doesn't want cut- military spending. Military spending is significantly more of the budget than all social service programs combined. If you really wanted to cut government spending and be able to lower taxes, you'd cut military spending, not snatch food from the mouths of children. Of course, that assumes you like children more than guns, which I'm guessing Mr. Second Amendment does not.

You must support the death penalty.

I was unaware this was a key conservative viewpoint. Disturbing.

I am putting the Blue Dog,Yellow Dog,Lap Dogs DemocRats on notice. You have a
bulls eye on your chest. You will be defeated in your bid for reelection.

Shaking in their boots, I'm sure. I actually have no idea what a Yellow Dog is, btw.

I want to say to the squishy moderate RINO'S your not welcome in the GOP.If you
want to be a squishy moderate RINO form your own party.I am talking to Mitt
Romney,John McCain and Lindsey Graham.Just to name a few RINO'S.There is no room in the GOP for squishy moderate RINO'S.

Squishy?

I heard little Barry saying he wants a fight.OK Barry lets throw down right. We
the people will vote your Chicago Thug ass out of office.

Ah yes, the President of the United States, "little Barry". Yeah, there's no racism in the tea party. Not at all. And when did we start hating Chicago? The deep dish pizza alone is a reason to love the Windy City.

Never in my 55 years on this planet I have never witnessed the Congress ignoring
the wishes of the people.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Apparently, you spent 54 of those last 55 years in a coma.

To borrow a line from Abraham Lincoln. "That the government of the people and by
the people shall not perish from the earth." The governmnet should return to the
people.

Oh, you mean the people that voted for "little Barry"? Those people? To borrow a line from me, "Sit down, shut the fuck up and learn to spell."

Good luck with the wolf, GOP. Let go or hold on, either way, you're screwed.

It's the Demographics, Stupid.

civil rights, GOP, republican, bush,
I can never decide if the GOP is extremely shortsighted or remarkably stupid when it comes to minorities in this country*. If they are extremely shortsighted, then they simply don't care that the percentage of white citizens is falling while the percentage of nonwhite citizens (including everything from black to Pacific Islander) is rising. Sure, you can still win a national election on the white vote alone- today. That's not always going to be true. Perhaps the GOP is simply too stupid to evaluate simple demographics, though you'd think someone in the party is intelligent enough to do so.

I mention this due to the revelation that the GOP, beginning with Reagan and continuing through W. Bush, watered down civil rights enforcement. Although, when it comes to Dubya, perhaps the word I am looking for is "venal".

In dry statistics and even drier prose, a report released last week by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) spells out how sweeping that effort became. The Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division veered away from challenging "at-large election systems" that marginalized African-Americans and focused on language discrimination against Spanish speakers. The Employment Litigation Section moved away from so-called pattern or practice cases (suits that took on widespread or systematic discrimination) in favor of individual complaints. ("Plenty of individual lawyers can bring these individual discrimination cases," pointed out Alan Jenkins, executive director of The Opportunity Agenda, a New York–based nonprofit; but only the Justice Department can pursue certain big cases that can make a real difference.) Bush's Justice Department was also particularly sensitive to discrimination against white males. In 2007 the division filed a suit against Indianapolis for favoring African-Americans and females over white males for promotion to police sergeant.

Good luck with that, GOP.

*The National Tea Party Convention, being sponsered by a known hate group, is both.

Rep. Broun Godwins the Entire World

hitler, godwin, conservative, GOP, obama, wingnut, socialism, marxism,
There is no possibility of reasonable discussions with a good portion of the GOP*. Exhibit "A": Representative Paul Broun of Georgia (do I need to tell you which party?) Godwins the entire world in his latest delusional rant.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base "may"? "a bit"?, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may—may not, I hope not—but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."

In case you're not familiar with what Broun is referring to, it is Obama's proposal for a civilian reserve corps that could handle postwar reconstruction efforts such as rebuilding infrastructure—an idea endorsed by the Bush administration. Remember, Broun? Those guys you loved? Were just in power until 6 months ago?

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist." Yeah, we probably shouldn't take history lessons from people that can't remember last year.

Broun said he believes Obama would move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national security force. I love all the weaselwording. "If he does . . . I believe . . . he may . . ." Once you've Godwin'd, you don't get to hide behind "I said he might do it . . ."

Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. entirely different from banning gun ownership. seriously, who the fuck needs a concealed assualt rifle? As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. No, he was not. Hitler was elected to a fairly minor political office, that's true. But he was appointed Chancellor of Germany (not a democratic move) and then appointed himself Fuhrer (again, not democratic) I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. which is why you've mentioned Hitler three times in as many minutes? What I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."

This is what passes for reasoned discourse? This is what the First Amendment has come to? Godwinning the entire world every time someone sticks a microphone in your face? How long do you suppose it will be before some unhinged wingnut with concealed bazooka decides that the only way to save the world from SuperMarxistBlackHitler is to kill people? Given the hysteria, the extremity, the insanity, of right wing speech lately, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Mark my words: in a world where a congressman can call the President of the United States Hitler- with no consequences- violence is guaranteed. The only question is when.

*UNRR is more than capable of reasonable discussion. I just wish the entire GOP was like him.

This Is Not A Poe - Part IV

wingnut, republican, GOP, oklahoma, religion, homophobia, abstinence, insane,
(or: I Just Couldn't Stay Away)

The Oklahoma GOP Party Platform 2009 actually gets worse after the sections on religion and sodomy. (You know, for the longest time I couldn't for the life of me figure out what "sodomy" was, because any time I saw a definition of sodomy, my reaction was "isn't that just sex?" Which it is, of course.)

The OK! GOP just can't get away from praising evangelical christianity. (The GOP: You can take the tired, the poor, the Jews, the Hindus, the Muslims and the atheists. We don't want 'em!) This ridiculous "god's the bestest thing evah!" crap continues right through the section on education. Public education, mind you.

Preamble:

We acknowledge our dependence upon Almighty God again. and again. and again. and ask His blessings okay, we get it, you're really into god. upon our students and their parents, teachers, and nation. It is the right and responsibility of parents to direct their children’s upbringing and education whether public, private, charter, or home school, without interference, regulation no regulation on schooling. at all. think about that for a second. what they're saying is that if a parent or a religious school wants to teach children that the world is cube with a 96 hour day and that god wants us to enslave our black citizens, that's fine by the GOP. uh, yeah., or penalty from the government. The primary goal of public schools should be to teach proficiency in the basic subjects of phonics based reading, written and oral communication, mathematics, sciences, traditional history including our founding documents (none of that women's history or black history, good ole white manifest destiny history), the Godly heritage of our nation the witch burning or the slave owning?, and critical thinking skills BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Locally elected school boards should have the authority to determine and implement all public school curricula, I think this is an attempt to backdoor in intelligent design. policies, and procedures for their districts. We demand excellence and accountability from all tax-funded institutions of education in Oklahoma. The federal government has no constitutional role in education i guess bush disagreed; furthermore, we support the creation of a free market education system vouchers. We believe Oklahoma students are among the best and brightest and deserve a quality education isn't that sweet? not sure why it's part of the platform, but props to the Okies!

1. The traditional family unit, consisting of a (husband) man, (wife) woman and child(ren), first of all, this is like the fourth time this has come up in this document. we get it, you're not into the gays. secondly, i love that it isn't enough to define the desired relationship as "man and woman" because that might include sinful unmarried men and women, who are little better than gays. is the foundation of our social structure. The Oklahoma Department of Education and various Boards of Regents should uphold and teach this definition of traditional family, at all levels of public school and higher education. including college, apparently. asshats.

2. Funding of School-to-Work in any form should be eliminated. Individuals should have the right to choose their own education and career. We oppose any tracking system, which presumes to know what is best for the individual and economy or predetermine the occupationsof students. as best as I can tell, the GOP is against students that are not college material having actual marketable skills. school to work is a program that apprentices high school students in useful, well-paying fields like car repair, plumbing and carpentry. how dare schools prepare children for the rest of their lives with necessary, marketable skills. it's appalling.

4. Parents have a right to exempt their children from required school vaccinations for medical reasons, religious reasons, or other reasons of conscience. No child should be required to take a medication as a requirement for attending a public school. it's not like vaccines have any kind of purpose or anything.

5. Parents have a natural right to home school their children. We oppose any and all regulation of home schooling. we wouldn't want to make sure that children have certain knowledge prior to reaching adulthood, would we?

6. We affirm the right of students and teachers to the free exercise of religion as guaranteed by he First Amendment, including the right to wear and display religious symbols, voluntary vocal prayer, optional Bible and religious study, religious expression including holidays, and equal access to use of school facilities for these activities. i wonder if they'll feel the same way when muslim students start wearing their religious symbols and demanding the use of school facilities for q'ran studies?

7. The American flag should be displayed in the classroom. Students should start the day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, including “one nation under God,” and be taught the history of and respect for our American flag. why do these asshats conflate christianity with patriotism?

10. The Ten Commandments should be posted in all public schools as a means of moral guidance along with our national motto “In God We Trust” and the Bill of Rights. the first four of the ten commandments:

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.
3
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
4
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

first of all, how are any of those four "moral" guidelines? wtf does "remember the sabbath day" have to do with morals or with education? wtf does any of that have to do with learning your abc's? secondly, how are any of those four applicable in a public school, where nonchristian theists and atheists may be in attendance?

oh, right, they're not.

11. We oppose the deliberate misuse of standard English and the alteration of historical facts. a slam on "urban" speech and a refutation of what was stated earlier about the US being a "christian nation" founded on Judaic law. nice.

13. Public schools shall not prohibit the Judeo-Christian worldview upon which our country was founded. Public schools shall be prohibited from promoting other worldviews such as, but not limited to, secular Humanism, New Age philosophy, deep ecology, reincarnation, psychotherapy, channeling, transcendental meditation, altered states of consciousness or any occult practice.
wait, i thought we weren't altering historical facts. and, i love that anything other than the worldview of evangelical christianity (worldviews held by millions of US citizens) are strictly forbidden. Also, psychotherapy is a forbidden worldview? and what the fuck is "deep ecology"? What planet does the GOP live on?

17. We believe the public school system is for the benefit of U.S. citizens and for those who havethe legal right to be here. fucking illegals!

18. We oppose any government required community service as a condition of graduation. Obama wants high school students to help out their community! commusocialfacism! HITLEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!

next up, the GOP supports the use of the bible as a history text. a history text. a fucking history text.

1. Basic school curricula should include reading, composition, literature, mathematics, science, history, and government. Reading shall include phonics instruction, and composition shall include grammar and spelling instruction. We encourage the teaching of art, music, foreign languages, sports/physical fitness, and the option of using the Bible as a history or literature text.

a history text. i don't know whether to laugh or cry. a history text.

2. American heritage should be taught in public schools and include representative government, limited government, the lives and beliefs of the founders, the influence of the Bible andreligion on our laws and principles, and the concept of free enterprise. Students should studydirectly from the primary founding documents, which teach the distribution of power amongthe three branches of federal government and between federal and state government. students shall be taught GOP talking points to the exclusion of all else. where else will we get more republicans?

4. We believe that the scientific evidence supporting Intelligent Design and biblical creation should be included in the Oklahoma public school curricula, and where any evolution theory is taught, that both should receive equal funding, class time, and material. Teachers should havethe freedom to cover creation science without fear of intimidation or reprimand. the GOP: we're not exactly certain what science is, but we're against it!

7. Any mandated sex education shall hold to the following guidelines:

a. Neither homosexual nor extramarital sexual activity shall be presented as safe, nor shall they be presented as morally or socially acceptable behaviors.

b. HIV shall be presented as incurable and fatal.

c. Abstinence or lifetime fidelity shall be presented as the only safe sexual practice.

I'm fairly certain my brain just exploded. abstinence training does not work. i certainly do not want my tax dollars to support homophobia. HIV infection can be prevented- with condoms. you know what, maybe i do support their stance on homeschooling- because if this is what is going on in Oklahoma schools, i certainly wouldn't send my children there.

9. We oppose the portrayal of homosexual or promiscuous behavior in a positive light in public schools. the GOP: we do NOT have to represent our gay citizens, too.

1. We support meaningful reform in the structure of our higher education system, including:
a. Evaluation of all programs and elimination or reform of substandard programs.
b. Control of grade inflation.
c. Accountability of administrators to include performance evaluation.
d. Reform of the faculty tenure system.
e. Budgeting tied to comprehensive planning process with increases in funding directly related to specific goals and objectives listing expected improvements.

translation: we'll get those liberal college professors yet!

Honestly, after wading through the muck of wingnuttery that is this party platform, I can't even imagine why the GOP has the support that it does. It's frightening that 1 out of 5 USians thinks this insanity is the way to go.

This Is Not A Poe - Part III

conservative, GOP, republican, homophobia, gay, atheism, atheist, religion, christian, law,
Today we review the Oklahoma GOP's Party Platform 2009's stance on religion, because no GOP anything would be complete without glorifying evangelical Christianity.

First up is a complete misunderstanding of history:

1. Our Founding Fathers based our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and our early laws on the Bible and on traditional Judeo-Christian ethics and values. We believe these documents are the basis for law, order, and behavior, allowing individuals, including government workers and officials, the freedom to involve God in all activities according to their conscience.

actually, US jurisprudence is based on English common law, not the bible. As virtually all crimes in the bible are punishable by stoning, I would think that was fairly obvious. It is appalling that politicians, you know people who vote on laws and stuff, don't have the slightest idea where our laws come from.

2. We believe the religion clause of the First Amendment was meant to protect an individual’s freedom of religion, not remove religion from public life.

good for you, GOP. you know who's in charge of interpreting US law? The Supreme Court. Here's what they have had to say about the issue.

4. We oppose any government oversight, harassment, licensing, or taxation of religious institutions and their ministries. did they just say that religious institutions and their ministries should be entirely removed from the law?

5. We support retaining the religious significance of national holidays and the display of religioussymbols in public places and oppose the removal of such. i have no problem with this. however, if my (atheist) money has to go to buying creches and such, then their (christian) money should go to buying jewish, muslim, hindu, etc. symbols.

7. We strongly support retaining the phrase “One Nation Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance. you mean, the words that were added 60 years after the Pledge was written? those words?

I'm not sure why this isn't included in the religion section, but the first statement under "general" invokes sodomy. yes, sodomy.

1. We oppose the promotion of homosexuality, the elimination of laws against sodomy, and the granting of minority protection or special status to any person based upon sexual preference or lifestyle choices. the GOP: We're In Your Bedrooms Now!

2. We believe that homosexuality is not a genetic trait but a chosen lifestyle. the GOP: Get Back In the Fucking Closet!

6. We support programs including faith-based organizations that promote traditional marriage, marriage enrichment, abstinence education, and encourage responsible parenting. the GOP: We Don't Care What Works!

7. We call for individuals, families, churches, and private organizations to take responsibility inmeeting the needs of the citizens of the community. the GOP: We Don't Like Helping Poor People- You Do It. (or not. whatever.)

8. We encourage rigorous enforcement of all anti-pornography laws. Government agencies ortax-supported institutions, especially libraries and public schools, should not provide access topornography and should provide adequate Internet security to prevent such access. actually, i do see this as a GOP issue. after all, the more conservative the state, the higher their usage of porn.

9. We affirm the right of private associations to admit or deny membership based on what that association’s conscience dictates. translation: if you don't want to let those dirty mexicans, jews, n***ers, bitches or f*gs in, you don't have to.

next comes the most insane thing i've read in a while:

12. We believe that government should not fund any organization that opposes the ideas andprinciples contained in the Republican Platform.

that's right kids. we are country of liberals, conservatives and everything in between, and even conservatives don't all agree with everything in this manifesto, but the government should not fund anything that disagrees with what is stated here.

think about that: no ACLU, no more pap smears for poor women, no funding for colleges with even vaguely liberal leanings.

that's just batshit crazy. and that's the party platform.

This Is Not A Poe- Part II

vagina, GOP, atheism, atheist, prochoice, prolife, abortion, republican, oklahoma,
Continuing our review of the Oklahoma GOP Party Platform of 2009, beginning with

Right-to-Life and Medical Ethics

Republicans do not support abortion.

They do NOT support abortion.

No abortions.

We believe in the sanctity and value of human life from conception through natural death. unless you need some sort of social(ist) service, like welfare or health care. then you can go fuck yourself. We oppose abortion (including the use of RU-486 or other abortion-inducing drugs), partial-birth abortion, infanticide who is proinfanticide?, euthanasia, mercy killings aka "euthanasia", embryonic stem-cell research, cloning who is procloning?, distribution of cloned parts ummmm . . . when did that start happening?, and the funding of such by the government. the US government does not fund any cloning research. We believe that human embryos created by Invitro-Fertilization (IVF) are fully human those 4 cells over there? exactly the same as you and me. and if not wanted by the genetic parents, should be preserved until adoption. We support a Constitutional Amendment protecting innocent human life. and banning abortion. we're really not into abortion.

We recognize that learning of an unexpected pregnancy is a life-changing moment. Therefore, we desire that a mother-to-be have sufficient time to explore all options regarding this new life. We recommend at least a 14-day waiting period for a womanconsidering an abortion and also strongly support and recommend that she be provided with:

This almost seems reasonable, doesn't it? except for one thing: abortion is generally not obtainable in the US after a certain period of time, generally 3-4 months into the pregnancy. What they're hoping for is that by forcing women to wait 2 weeks, they will go over the cutoff and not be able to obtain an abortion.

d. Evidence indicating that the unborn child can feel sensations of pain. even if the science doesn't bear that out. The GOP: We Don't Need Science- We've Got Belief!

e. Information regarding the psychological and medical risks associated with abortion, including the link between breast cancer and abortion. Even if the science doesn't prove that, either. The GOP: Lying for Jesus!

9. We believe in the teaching of abstinence as the only effective way of preventing pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. even if abstinence training is a miserable failure. The GOP: Put That Vagina Away!

11. We support legislation that prohibits using any unborn child for the purpose of harvesting and/or any service related to the donation or purchase or sale of organs and/or tissue. there are already laws about this. you can't buy or sell organs or tissues.

13. We oppose unethical scientific experimentation. so does everyone.

Healthcare

4. We oppose any mandate requiring school age girls to be vaccinated with Gardasil, a new vaccine against certain strains of human papilloma virus (HPV) that can cause cervical cancer. for the last time, put that vagina away!

5. We support privatization of the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs. because everyone's 401k's are doing so well right now.

a. Personal responsibility and education about maintaining health. if you're sick, it's your fault.

b. Options that include Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and/or Medical SavingsAccounts (MSA) that can be voluntarily contributed to, by a citizen or an employer. These accounts should be made available to Medicare participants. because poor people have so much money they don't even need insurance. they can just pay out of pocket.

Elderly and Vulnerable

1. We support the origin and sanctity of life as an inalienable right from God alone really not that into atheists, and as being defined in the Constitution of the United States. This definition of life begins with conception where in the Constitution does the definition of life beginning at conception occur? at the time the Constitution was written, abortion was legal up until about the 5th month. and ends at natural death due to the failure of the body to survive its environment. are they confused as to why people die? congestive heart failure and cancer are not the "failure of the body to survive its environment". as far as i can tell, they're supporting execution by exposure. We support the protection of those who cannot defend themselves including the unborn, the disabled, and the elderly. wait, how old is McCain again?

2. To encourage family members to care for their loved ones, we support tax policies that help alleviate costs. TAX. CUTS. SOLVE. EVERY. PROBLEM.

next up: Religious Freedom!

I Hope You Starve in an Alley

republican, GOP, liberal, democrat, obama, rush limbaugh, steele, apology
Rush Limbaugh, a uneducated, thrice divorced, narcotic-abusing shock jock, is the head of the GOP. I called this months ago, and everyone I knew made fun of me. Well, now I've got proof. For anyone who's been living in a cave for the last few days, the media called Rush the "de facto leader of the Republican Party." Michael Steele, Chairman of the GOP, reacted rather strongly to that, as he is at least a leader of the GOP. He also called Rush on his on air antics, labeling them "incendiary" and "ugly".

Well, of course a Republican foray into the real world couldn't be allowed. Michael Steele was forced to apologize to Rush Limbaugh.

"I respect Rush Limbaugh, he is a national conservative leader, and in no way do I want to diminish his voice," Steele said in a statement late Monday. "I'm sure that he and I will agree most of the time, but will probably disagree some as well, which is fine."

What is wrong with Republicans? Really, I just don't get it. Rush Limbaugh wants Obama to fail. Oh, he's backed off a little bit and said that he wants Obama's policies to fail. There is no effective difference between Obama failing and Obama's policies failing, so that's just rather silly semantic tapdancing.

Truth is, if Obama, or his policies, fail, people will suffer. Rush is gleefully anticipating the suffering of millions. Many of those millions will be children. Right now, people are losing their homes. Right now, people are going hungry. A lot of those people are children.

I know you know at least one child, even if you don't have any of your own. Imagine looking into the eyes of a child you know and saying, "I hope you starve in an alley."

What kind of monster would that make you? That's exactly the kind of monster Rush Limbaugh is. It's exactly the kind of monster that now leads the GOP.

Think about that the next time you're in a voting booth.

Joe the Economic Advisor

joe the plumber, GOP, republican, conservative, economic, liberal, obama, recovery, economy

Okay, look, when you're taking economic advice from a plumber that isn't even legally qualified to give advice on plumbing, you need to admit that "flailing around helplessly" is your only remaining plan.

Or, the GOP has been involved in the longest-running piece of performance art in history.

It's getting a little hard to tell.

Politico.com:

Fresh off his stint as a war correspondent in Gaza, Joe the Plumber is now doing political strategy with Republicans.

When GOP congressional aides gather Tuesday morning for a meeting of the Conservative Working Group, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher – more commonly known as Joe the Plumber — will be their featured guest. This group is an organization of conservative Capitol Hill staffers who meet regularly to chart GOP strategy for the week.Wurzelbacher, who became a household name during the presidential election, will be focusing his talk on the proposed stimulus package. He's apparently not a fan of the economic rescue package, according to members of the group.

If nothing else, GOP aides are using the appearance to get staffers to attend the 9 a.m meeting.“In case you weren’t planning to attend CWG tomorrow morning, you might want to reconsider because Joe the Plumber will be joining us!” Kimberly Wallner, an aide to South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, wrote in a message to her e-mail list this afternoon.

Keep in mind, Mr. Wurzelbacher was famously against an economic plan that would have helped him.
