Israel apologists will tell you that every action taken by Israeli forces against the Palestinians is absolutely necessary to defend Israel against terrorism. So, sexually harrassing a bound Palestinian woman is how you defeat terrorists? Who knew.

That was really hard to watch. Trigger warning needed.
ReplyDeleteI hope this individual is prosecuted in a military court. I'm also disturbed by the fact that whoever put up this video labeled it "funny." Human rights violations aren't funny.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I don't think this is representative. A single soldier's behavior doesn't by itself represent the motivations of a country. Look at for example has Israel has prosecuted multiple soldiers for human rights violations in the Gaza war. Unfortunately, as in many countries, any problems traceable to high level officers will be either ignored or blamed on subordinates. But this is a political consequence, not a consequence of nefarious intent by the Israeli government.
(Also, echoing uzza's suggestion for a trigger warning note. This video isn't so bad that I'd expect a trigger warning on a generic website, but given your readership and general history of when you use trigger warnings having a trigger warning in this context would probably be ideal.)
I feel sick now.
ReplyDeleteyes - sick describes it. :(
