The following blog from American Thinker is reprehensible.
Osama bin Lego?
Thomas Lifson
Just in time for Eid come specially modified Lego figures in jihadi getup, for sale in the UK. The UK Sun reports:
The masked follower of 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden comes with a rocket launcher, assault rifle and grenades. [....]
The £9.50 two-inch figures are customised from Lego toys by makers BrickArms, who hope for a Christmas hit. ...
They also include a Nazi major, bearing the chilling SS insignia, and a stormtrooper brandishing two grenade launchers.
The Sun's copyrighted pictures must be seen. Religious leaders from the Muslim community, as well as Jewish leaders, are aghast.
G.I. Joe could handle these guys. Unfortunately, he is tied up fighting off Congressional hearings on torture at Gitmo.Hat tip: Susan L.
The above makes it sound like the Lego company, maker of toys I still very much enjoy, supported an Osama bin Laden figure, as well as a Nazi figurine. Not so. Here's the rest of the article from the Sun, which Thomas Lifson conveniently left out:
LEGO UK today issued a statement saying it is not associated with the toys being sold by BrickArms which have been customised without its knowledge or permission.
It continued: "BrickArms is not licensed by LEGO UK to customise LEGO figures and has no links to the LEGO brand.
I tried to post a comment on the blog, calling Lifson on his omission, but oddly, it didn't get posted. Hmmm . . . was it the work of aliens?
Poor Lego. They make such nice toys. Thomas Lifson is full of fail!
